Ruby Street vs. Stout kettles

0
0
So I'm looking to purchase a new Ruby Street Alpha 1 BBL system and I am trying to decide between base and kettles from Ruby Street or just the base and purchasing Stout Tanks kettles separately. They look to be pretty close in price. Anyone have any experience/opinion between the two kettles? I like the looks of the Stout kettles quite a bit more, but functionality and quality is a much higher priority.

Brite tank implosion/pressure question

0
0
Hello Everyone!

We are a small soda brewery currently operating on a 1 barrel system. Most of our equipment has come from Ss Brewtech, including our Brite tank, which I have a question about.

We want to boil our "mash" in our kettle, then hot fill the brite tank and use it's glycol chilling coil in combination with a glycol chilling system (18gallon bath). So here is my question... can we seal the brite tank while hot if we keep Co2 pressure at desired PSI while our liquid is chilling? I know that going hot to cold while sealed is a recipe for implosion, but what if the gas will constantly compensate for that loss of pressure by slowly adding Co2?

Cell Counting Question

Hey forum folk,

I'm wondering if I need to include a dilution of methylene blue into my final dilution factor when calculating yeast density. Here is the quick and dirty procedure:

1. Dilute 1g yeast slurry with 45mL distilled water and 45mL 1%H2SO4 (1:10)
2. Dilute previous dilution to 1:100
3. Pipette 1mL of 1:100 dilution into 15mL vial, add 1 drop of methylene blue solution (concentration 1.5% or 1.5g/100 mL) into the 1mL of 1:100 dilution and mix until homogeneous.
4. Pipette onto hemacytometer and carry out counting for viability and density.

For calculating density, I take the number of live cells counting * 5x10[SUP]4[SUP] * dilution factor. The dilution factor here is 100, however, this is not including the methylene blue, should this be taken into account as well? Thanks.

all of my brewing experience has been in states where we had specific forms to fill out to sell a keg to a private citizen or group that didn't have a license to sell.
Question is, does Ohio have any sort of paper work they require for a dock sale?
