Guest Taps

I'm going to offer 5-6 guest taps in my tasting room in addition to the 4-5 I'll brew in order to round out the "beer rainbow". What sort of sell through are you seeing in your brewery for guest taps? Are you buying sixtels or 1/2bbl kegs? I know it'll vary greatly based on several factors but I'm trying to get a feel for typical sell through rates. Yes I'll be polling local breweries also, but thought I might get more feedback quicker here. Thanks.

Learn to be a California Brewmaster while going to school or working another job!

Santa Barbara Brewing Company, the oldest operating brewery in Santa Barbara County, is seeking a motivated individual to train under our award-winning veteran Brewmaster Zambo. Most opportunities at this level would not have you reporting and training directly with a Brewmaster, and Zambo has trained many dedicated men and women to become Head Brewers and brewery owners. Work is part time (16-20 hours per week) so you can attend college, work another gig or just walk to the beach!
Some brewery experience preferred but homebrewing or formal brewing education is acceptable. Qualified applicants should email a resume and cover letter to zambobrews@gmail.com.

Drinking at Work Dialogue--GABF week

Hey All,

We are having our 5th Annual Great American Brewers Dialogue on Oct 5th, 1-3pm at Bierstadt Lagerhaus in Denver, CO. (That's the Thursday of GABF). This is a FREE event.

This year's topic addresses drinking beer at work:
What are the challenges presented by allowing staff (and yourself) a beer or two at work? What are the benefits? What policies do other breweries have?

This is a sensitive and important topic. We will not demonize, canonize or judge any aspects of the discussion. We will provide facilitators to keep things engaging, on topic, open and respectful.

This is for brewery representatives only. Usually, we open these dialogues to anybody and everybody. However, we want honest and open discussions, which requires a setting in which people feel comfortable talking about personal/biz issues. No media.

For more information and sign-up go to: www.OvalOptions.com/2017-great-american-brewers-dialogue/

60 BBL Pacific Bright Beer Tank AVAILABLE NOW

Sparger

Hi everyone!

I have a 20 bbl JVNW MLT. The unit was manufactured in 1996 and I am a fairly new owner/brewer. It did not come with a specialized sparge head of any kind as the previous owner used a spray ball. I did not like using the spray ball, so I purchased a GW Kent sparge head and I absolutely hate it; I almost always end up with a very uneven topography in the tun and I feel my efficiency is suffering and variable as a result. I cannot seem to find many "spargers" or sparge heads available for commercial brewing. Does anyone know of a manufacturer of such equipment? Am I maybe searching with the wrong terminology? I simply need a sparge head that will spray gently and evenly that I can clamp to a 1.5" tri clamp ferrule.

Thanks in advance!

No carbonation after cold crashing

Hello all,

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now but this is my first post, I'm going someone can help me.

We have 2 x 1000L fermenters that can handle 3 bar of pressure.

I usually ferment at about 1 bar with good results however after 4 batches I am not able to get any carbonation into the beer.

I cold crash from fermentation temperature to 1C and even after 1 week the beer is still flat.

I've tried everything and had discussions with others and it seems as though everything should be carbonated fine.

I'm wondering if anyone else had a similar problem and how did they solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Need help with chiller valve solenoid controller setup...

Bought a 2/3 hp glycol chiller to chill 1 jacketed 3bbl fermenter (for the time being). Just trying to wrap my head around the configuration and at equipment I will need for this. Here is my understanding - 1-chiller pumps to the lines 2- pressure reducing valve 3-pressure gauge 4-lines to solenoid ??? One thing that I do not understand is the location of the solenoid?? I would guess (based on nothing ha) that the solenoid should be close to the glycol inlet into the fermenter?? The solenoid is then wired to the temp controller that is connected to the chiller and flow is determined based on the set temp... should another pressure valve be situated somewhere else? Also what diameter tubing should I use for a setupbof this size? Thanks

First of all let me tell you guys I really enjoy Pro Brewer, this is my first post. After several years as a home brewer and almost 32 years as a career firefighter/EMT I'm now the head brewer at a soon to open brewery in West Point Ga, Chattabrewchee Southern Brewhouse. We'll be using US-05 as our house yeast, what's the recommended pitch rate for 7 barrels? Most of our beers will have a og of 11 to 18 Plato

Scaling up recipe and water quantity concern...

$

Just picked up my 3bbl system and am using beersmith to scale up some recipes that I made on my 5gal system. The system manufacturer has an uploadable equipment profile for beersmith and I have my 5 gal profile pretty well dialed in to where I can hit the numbers dead on at this point. Calls for 111 gallons at start of boil...and 150 gallon is the mash tun capacity of the new system, when scaled it is calling for 230 total lbs of grain. I have never worked with this quantity before but it seems that 230 lbs of grain wouldn't leave enough room for the water. Am I looking at this wrong? Would a 150 gallon vessel hold 230 lbs of grain and enough water to mash with? I know I can add boiling water to the boil kettle but feel this would throw off my numbers.... feedback?
